Southeastern Oklahoma State University will hold two events on April 1 for current educators or students interested in pursuing a teaching career.
On Friday, April 1, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Hallie McKinney Ballroom, the Southeast Department of Instructional Instruction and Leadership will host an “Academy for Future Teachers.”
This event is designed for high school juniors and seniors interested in the teaching field, as well as current teachers and administrators.
Six former Oklahoma Teachers of the Year — including Durant’s Jon Hazell — will speak and also participate in a panel discussion. The keynote speaker is Rebecca Oglesby, 2019 Oklahoma Teacher of the Year.
Students will learn the educational requirements for teaching, as well as the benefits. Lunch will be provided, along with t-shirts, prizes and other goodies.
Later today, in conjunction with the Future Teacher Academy, the SE Career Management Center will host a Spring Education Career Fair. This event takes place from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Magnolia Room.
The job fair will provide SE students and alumni the opportunity to network with a large number of school districts seeking candidates for teacher, counselor, coach and administrator positions.
