Lafayette Parish School System announced Thursday the appointment of Venus Soileau as Virtual Learning Administrator for Lafayette Online Academy.
Soileau has been Principal of Scott Middle School since 2017 and has 13 years of experience in public education, including seven years in an administrative role.
She holds a master’s degree in educational leadership from the American College of Education. As the new administrator of LOA, Soileau said she looks forward to supporting and leading the program to better serve students and families across the district.
“Given the many changes and challenges in our world today, it is important that we continue to offer the students of Lafayette Parish a viable alternative to traditional classroom instruction that will meet their educational needs”, a- she declared.
Soileau has already held administrative and educational positions in several schools in the region, including Paul Breaux Middle and Acadian Middle. She was honored as 2012 Teacher of the Year at Lafayette Parish College.
She has 14 years of business management experience, which she believes gives her a unique perspective on how best to provide educational services in a non-traditional environment.
“I think we can create an environment at Lafayette Online Academy in which our community feels as comfortable as any traditional campus.”
