To help the league get off to a good start, Academy Sports + Outdoors donated equipment worth a gymnasium to the police department on Tuesday.

The donation includes 60 pairs of basketball shoes, 80 balls, equipment bags and more.

“The most important thing was to start from scratch, for these kids to see us as people, and there’s no division,” OPD Lt. Matthew Ochiuzzo said during Tuesday’s donation presentation.

Former NBA player Bo Outlaw was also on hand for the presentation. He will join the Orlando police officers as they surprise kids with the new equipment during their workouts over the next few weeks.
