Administrator’s Corner by John Double

Let me start this week’s article by thanking the community of Albert Lea for their support to our students, staff and the school district last Tuesday. It is a positive thing to see our community supporting the education of our students, especially at such a critical time. Our students, families and community will benefit greatly over the next decade. Thanks again for your continued support.

I would also like to remind people that spring semester registrations for the Albert Lea Online Academy are now open (Grades 4 to 12). Registration forms are available on our website and must be submitted by Monday November 15th. Our spring semester starts January 6, so we’re proactive for students who want to change enrollment settings. Please contact the Academy office online at 379-5153 with any questions.

Schools in the Albert Lea area have been actively participating in a regional initiative called FutureForward since its launch about four years ago. This platform is designed to connect educators and employers to improve the education of our students. Whether educators are looking for guest speakers for their class or employers are looking for students in our workplace learning programs to become employees, this platform connects them to share details, allowing collaboration to be. more efficient and more efficient. The platform also hosts videos about the workplace and careers of employers with an account.

Another unique feature of FutureForward is that it is a regional platform launched in Southeast Minnesota that now also encompasses schools and businesses in the Southwest, Metro and Midwest. State. For educators, this provides access to industries located both locally and regionally, and for employers, it provides access to educators and students across Southeast Minnesota. Registration on the platform is free for professionals and companies. Education in using this platform begins with our secondary educators Albert Lea and will extend to our secondary and elementary schools.

John Double is the Director of the Distance Learning Academy for Schools in the Albert Lea area.
