Academy Sports + Outdoors opens new store in Conyers, GA


Customers can expect to find everyday low prices on top brands such as Nike, adidas, Under Armour, Colombia, The North Face and more. Academy also offers exceptional value and quality through its private brands such as Magellan Outdoors, Freely, BCG, H2O Xpress, Game Winner, O’Rageous and others.

The new location provides families with a fun destination to get ready for any big game, outdoor adventure, or a day on the pitch or in the field. Plus, the store serves as a place to create a backyard oasis with everything from patio sets, barbecue grills and outdoor games. Academy also offers free services such as grill and bike assembly, scope mounting, bore sighting, line/spool winding and propane exchange. Customers can also purchase hunting and fishing licenses.

Academy continuously provides support in the Atlanta Métropole thanks to community donations and more than 40 local partnerships. These efforts benefit youth team sports, field and stream organizations, fitness facilities, and historically Black colleges and universities, as well as the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Athlete Positive, at USTA Atlanta, Morehouse College, clark atlanta and much more. Academy is the Official Sporting Goods Retailer of the Atlanta Braves and Gwinnett Stripers.

On Thursday April 28ahead of the three-day grand opening, the new store will offer a $5,000 donation to the Sheriff’s Activities League (SAL) of Rockdale County. Twenty young people from the SAL region will receive a shopping spree worth a total of $4,000 and be among the first to shop in the store for new shoes, apparel, sports gear, bikes, fishing and camping gear, and more. The Academy will also donate a $1,000 gift card to Rockdale County SAL to purchase additional outdoor and sporting goods. Plus, teachers and school staff get 10% off online and in-store purchases for up to May 8, 2022.

Starting on April 29the community is invited to three-day store opening celebration full of fun activities for the whole family. Free events include:

  • Braves World Champions Trophy Tour
  • A special appearance by Braves mascot Blooper and former Braves third baseman Terry Pendleton
  • Gifts and interactive demonstrations of the brands sold at the Academy
  • Academy Mystery Gift Card Giveaways
  • Free food truck bites
  • Meet and greet a professional fisherman shryock hunter.

New Conyers, Georgia the location marks the first of two new Academy stores to open in the metro Atlanta area in 2022. This fall, local customers can expect a location near Perimeter Center.
