The Academy activated more than 75 popular events in its footprint and surprised hundreds of shoppers with its “Traveling Santa” initiative in each of its 259 stores throughout December.

Through the “Traveling Santa” initiative, the Academy has identified individuals and families doing their holiday shopping at their local Academy store and surprised them by helping them pay for their holiday gifts.
Core events included in-store shopping sprees, bike donations and other giving initiatives in 50 cities across the Academy’s footprint. The events aimed to give back to first responders and children by donating to local chapters of the National Police Athletic League, Boys & Girls Clubs, Big Brothers Big Sisters and other nonprofits that help community members .
To amp up the holiday cheer, the Academy has partnered with the Carolina Panthers, Tennessee Titans, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars Foundation, San Antonio Spurs and Austin FC, as well as various minor baseball teams and professional football clubs. Each of these groups has helped the Academy surprise local families and interact with children to continue inspiring the next generation of athletes.
