4ATX Foundation and Academy Sports + Outdoors to Host Gear Drive


The 4ATX Foundation, the nonprofit arm of Austin FC, and Academy Sports + Outdoors, a sports retailer, will host an equipment drive for young soccer players in need across Central Texas in Q2 Stadium, 10414 McKalla Place in Northwest Austin. The gear will be handed out to players in a handover event also in Q2 in September.

“We have an amazing football community here in Austin and we will continue to work to make the sport more accessible to everyone,” said Austin FC President Andy Loughnane.

Fans can drop off new or lightly used shin guards, soccer balls, cleats, new soccer socks, soccer shorts, goalie gloves, new sports bras and soccer bags. soccer at HEB Plaza at Q2 Stadium during home games on August 6, 13, 26 and 31. They can also visit the Verde Store at Q2 Stadium every Monday in August and receive 10% off an Austin FC scarf.

The Academy and 4ATX Foundation will host a group of students from a Title I elementary school that will be announced for a throwback event where students will tour the stadium and meet the players of Austin FC. Each student will walk away with the items collected during the gear drive and a $50 gift card to Academy Sports + Outdoors, just before the start of the school year and the fall soccer season.

This is the group’s second equipment campaign. The 4ATX Foundation and Academy Sports + Outdoors have decided to make it an annual event after the success of the first one in 2021. The date for the handover event in September has not been decided.
