Traditional Legacy Schools set to open online academy

Legacy Traditional Schools goes online with the launch of Legacy Online Academy, a public, tuition-free online education option.

The new online platform will make available to every student in Arizona the same education that Legacy Traditional families receive. Legacy Online Academy opens for K-8 students in fall 2021.

“While COVID-19 has upended nearly every facet of public education over the past year, it has also given schools like Legacy the opportunity to adapt and innovate the way we deliver. education in a time of pandemic,” Superintendent Nicole Kirkley said. “For Arizona families who want a distance learning option, we are proud that Legacy Online Academy provides students with an exceptional education in a setting where they feel safe, supported and challenged.”

Each student enrolled in Legacy Online Academy will be assigned their own dedicated online teacher in a virtual classroom environment. The online model will aim to ensure students master the basics of education – reading, writing and math – while learning at an accelerated pace.

Founded in 2007, Legacy Traditional Schools of Chandler has earned an “A” grade from the Arizona Department of Education and is recognized as the highest rated K-8 school system in the state.

Arizona is home to 19 Legacy campuses, including three new campuses in Mesa, Deer Valley and East Tucson in the fall.

Families interested in learning more about Legacy Online Academy are encouraged to attend the first virtual open house on Wednesday, February 24 at 6 p.m. To RSVP for the event or for more information about Legacy Online Academy, visit
